Stained Glass Type

Concept:This project involved the complete creation of a typeface using Glyphs. The project began with research into my heritage (Polish) and from there I took inspiration of Polish typographers and my own personal connection to being Polish. I decided to create a font from my memories of visiting St. Florian Church on Good Friday in Hamtramck with my family after eating good pierogies and city chicken beforehand. I chose to create a geometric, sans-serif typeface named Good Florian, a hybrid of Good Friday and St. Florian, that resembles the stained glass I would see in the church.

Insights:
Do not underestimate using a new program that looks ‘simple’. I had a very big
learning curve onGlyphs, but proud it paid off in the end through dedication.
