10 Years
of Poetry

Concept:
I’ts no secret that senior year holds the dreadful pressure of creating the perfect “last project” to truly represent your four years of learning. This idea came from hours of overthinking until I realized, oh I already know exactly what I needed to make. This is a set of four hand-stitched booklets that contain designed poetry which I have been writing on my phone (messy, unpolished, good old notes app chaos) for about a decade. I started learning concepts of design around the same time I began writing these poems, so combining these two things made sense and it felt special enough for that “last project” sigh of relief.

Book 1: Komorebi (the happy one)

Book 2: Saudade (the sad one)

Book 3: Sielvartas (the chaotic one)

Book 4: Ya’aburnee (the scary one)

Audience:N/A

Insights:Don’t hesitate to do something out of fear or anxiety. My intention was to include maybe only a couple images most in these booklets, since I thought type was going to be my main focus. The imagery is by far a key addition to these booklets and each image works with the type so well, I am glad I took that leap and allowed my idea to remain in this space with image and type connecting together with such detail.
